Supplies Needed: Plastic Cup Plastic Wrap Scissors Rubberband Markers
#1: Take a clear plastic cup and decorate it using your markers. Make sure to leave a little open space so you can view your bug. #2: Take a piece of plastic wrap and place it over the rim of the cup #3: Secure it in place with the rubberband #4: Have an adult use the scissors to make small holes in the plastic wrap. Make sure the holes are small so you bug doesn’t escape. #5: Take off the plastic wrap but have it handy so once you catch your bug you can put the plastic wrap and rubberband back on to secure the bug.
Supplies Needed: A round object (such as a bowel, cup, etc) A piece of black Construction paper A piece of colored Construction paper
Paint Pipe Cleaner Black Paint Glue Scissors Markers or Crayons
#1: Prepare your work environment by laying down newspaper or plastic #2: Trace around the round object on a piece the black and colored construction paper. #3: Cut out the two circles you just traced on the construction paper #4: Bend a pipe cleaner in half #5: Glue the center of the bent pipe cleaner on the top of the black construction paper circle. These will be the ladybugs antennas #6: Cut the colored construction paper circle in half so you have two equal halves of a circle. These are going to be the ladybugs wings. #7: Glue the two halves of the circle on top of the black circle to make the colored paper look like wings. Place them together on top and then apart towards the bottom #8:Dip your child’s finger in the black paint. #9: Then press their finger on the wings of the ladybug. Do this a few times to decorate the ladybugs wings with spots.
Supplies Needed: Green Paint Paint Brush Paper Plate Craft Stick Googly Eyes Construction Paper
#1: Prepare your work environment by laying down newspaper or plastic #2: Paint the paper plate green using a paint brush #3: Paint the craft stick red #4: Set aside and allow to dry #5: Fold the paper plate in half #6: Glue the craft stick to the center of the plate on the inside fold. This will be your frogs tongue #7: Glue googly eyes to the top fold of the plate #8: On construction paper cut out 4 strips of paper length wise #9: Fold each of the 4 strips in an accordion like fashion. #10: Glue the 4 strips of paper to the back of the folded plate. These will be the frogs legs.
Supplies Needed: Pipe Cleaners- 6 total Googly Eyes Green Paint Paint Brush Egg Carton (cleaned) Markers or Crayons Scissors Glue
#1: Take a egg carton and cut three egg holders in a row out. These will be the body of your grasshopper #2: Prepare your work environment by laying down newspaper or plastic #3: Paint your egg carton green using a paint brush. #4: Set aside and allow to dry. #5: Turn the egg carton over so the egg holder part is face down. #6: Glue your googly eyes on the front of the egg carton #7: Draw a mouth and nose for your grasshopper under your eyes #8: Bend a pipe cleaner in half #9: Place the center of the bent pipe cleaner into the egg carton above the googly eyes. These will be the grasshoppers antennas #10: Take 2 pipe cleaners and bend and twist them to make two loops. These will be the grasshoppers wings #11: Insert the wings into the egg carton in the 2nd egg holder. These will be the grasshoppers wings #12: Take 2 pipe cleaners and place them into the egg carton on either side. These will be the grasshoppers feet.
Supplies Needed: Paper Scissors Glue Pipe Cleaner Googly Eyes Paper Towel Roll Markers or Crayons
#1: Trace the child’s hand on a construction paper. Need to trace out about 10 hands total on different color construction paper. These are going to be layered to look like butterfly wings. #2: Use scissors to cut out the child’s hands that were just traced #3: Decorate the paper Towel Roll using your crayons or markers. #6: Glue your child’s cut out handprints to the toilet paper roll. Layer the handprints on either side of the paper towel roll to look like butterfly wings. #7: Bend the pipe cleaner in half #8: Glue the pipe cleaner to the top of the paper towel roll. These will be your butterfly antennas #9: Glue Googly Eyes to your butterfly #10: Draw a mouth and nose for your butterfly
