Hanukkah is an eight day Jewish holiday known as the Festival of Lights. The festival is observed by the kindling of lights on a special candelabrum called the Menorah. A candle is lite each night for the “illumination of the house without”, so that people passing by should see the menorah and be reminded of the holiday’s miracle. The miracle of the holiday happened in the 2nd century BCE at the victory of the Maccabees .There was only enough oil to fuel the eternal flame in the Temple for 1 day. Miraculously, the oil burned for eight days, which was just enough time to get more oil.
